Join writer and artist Jan Pittard for a session of Ekphrastic writing in response to Gregory Carosi's House of Cards exhibition, currently on display at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery.

Ekphrasis is a vivid, often dramatic, verbal description of a visual work of art. Your piece can be in any genre, it just needs to evoke or be inspired by the surreal and fantastical art installation, House of Cards. No experience is necessary, just bring your creativity and imagination.

Pencils and paper will be provided. If you’re comfortable with the outcome of your story, poem or prose, you may like to share it with the group at the end of the session.

Jan Pittard is a writer and collage artist who moved to Wagga Wagga from South West Sydney where she worked in adult education and arts administration. She is an active member of Booranga Writers’ and served on their committee for 3 years.  She writes poetry and non-fiction including memoir, theatre and art reviews and articles on local history.

Jan is a frequent participant in Booranga’s open mics. She publishes a blog, Alice Writ Large, and has a passion for ekphrastic writing having produced poetry in response to the exhibitions Hardenvale Our Home in the Suburbs, Cries from the Anthropocene and Linda Luke’ s performance piece, Stone.
