Bending the Light: The Marriage of Glass and Light

Feb 28, 2026 3:00 pm to Feb 28, 2026 4:15 pm

About

Art and science meet in this panel discussion examining the dynamic role of light in the creation, viewing and exhibition of glass art. Facilitated by National Art Glass Gallery Curator Michael Scarrone, the discussion considers how glass and light—both natural and artificial—interact, and how glass mediates light. Panellists will discuss elements such as gases, sunlight, reflection, lustre, opacity, luminosity and texture.

Michael will be joined by exhibiting artists Harriet Schwarzrock, Jason Sims and Jacqueline Knight, along with Light Trap curator Drew Halyday, to explore the relationship between glass and light through works featured in four new exhibitions launching the same day.
