Reading the Signs presents a series of works created by Donna Longobardi and Robyn Veener Sweeney in response to a period of evacuation during the Black Summer Fires. Living and working in Gilmore and Batlow, both artists witnessed the destruction of the landscape. Their shared experiences, and the ongoing intrusion on their daily lives provided an access point to document their trauma, with work referencing memory, loss and recovery.
