Please join us for a special lunchtime talk with acclaimed, Wagga Wagga-based Gamilaraay artist Juanita McLauchlan in conversation with gallery director Dr Lee-Anne Hall.

Their discussion will canvas Juanita’s career and success as an artist, supported by Art Gallery mentorship and City Council employment and training initiatives such as The Elsa Dixon Aboriginal Employment Grant.

The EDAEG adopts several strategies to develop and support Aboriginal people through the creation of training and employment opportunities.

The Wagga Wagga Art Gallery recognises that working an artist is a valuable career, and we value the support of Wagga Wagga City Council in recognising this and supporting this project. Juanita McLauchlan is the first professionally practicing artist to have received this opportunity.

Throughout the past 18 months, Juanita worked on her artwork every Tuesday in our E3 Workshop and has been in weekly consultation with Gallery arts professionals on the continued development of her creative practice. Juanita and Lee-Anne will reflect on the Elsa Dixon residency and Juanita’s career and will discuss what it means to have a sustainable, ethical and successful career as a visual artist.

Light lunch will be provided. This event is free, but bookings are essential for catering and planning purposes.
