About
18 + (no children) - No experience necessary!
Join exhibiting artist Mary Coughlan for a stitching workshop and create an artwork that celebrates a woman who has been a heroine in your personal life story. Your heroine might be a family member, grandmother or aunty or it may even be a beloved pet or a special teacher you greatly admired.
Fabric, needles, glue, threads and other materials will be provided. Please bring an object or talisman that represents your personal heroine. This can be anything from a photo, a button, a piece of material or a flower.
You will then stitch your heroine’s story in words and/or images. This two-hour workshop is a beginning, an opportunity to explore and play with memory and honouring memories in a deeply personal way. Participants will be encouraged to continue and finish their artwork at home.
The workshop will take place in the Margaret Carnegie Gallery on the upper floor of the Art Gallery where Mary’s exhibition, Covered in Roses/Covered in Ashes in currently installed.
