On Saturday 22 August at 2 pm, we warmly invite you to join us for an Artist Conversation with contemporary artist Dan De Nardis and a preview of her forthcoming solo exhibition, Musings from a Darkened Corner.

Moving through the gallery, the Artist Conversation will focus on selected artworks, creative processes, and symbolism embedded in kiln-formed practice.

Guests are also invited to preview Still Becoming, an exhibition drawn from the National Art Glass Collection. Light refreshments will be served on arrival and after the conversation. All are welcome to attend, and we kindly ask you to RSVP via the button below.

Musings from a Darkened Corner translates lived experiences with mental conditions into tangible objects that can be perceived, assessed, and understood. Dan De Nardis uses glass as the shears to cut back the curtain between the psychological world and the physical. As her investigations into the mind deepen, we, the audience, are invited to peer in. De Nardis is a contemporary artist based in Sydney’s Inner West, living and working on the traditional land of the Gadigal people.  Her monstrous and fantastical glass sculptures and disquieting illustrations embody her experience with mental illness. They represent her pursuit to better understand the mind and challenge longstanding stigma around psychological conditions.
