About

In Cockies and Hot Rocks Andy Pye demonstrates a deep affinity for the natural world - the mountains, boulders, waterfalls and birdlife captured in vibrant paintings on canvas and board. Together Pye’s bush works evoke comfort and discomfort - while some convey stillness, others convey movement, fragmentation, or a yearning for the world’s transformation.

Immersed in the vibrant life, dynamic sounds, and solitude of the Australian bush, Pye effortlessly captures its unique beauty and terror. In doing so, Pye carries the legacy of the pioneering Modernist painters of the Australian bush, those who gave painterly form to our country, such as Fred Williams, Arthur Boyd and Sidney Nolan.

Cockies and Hot Rocks is presented by arrangement with Wangaratta Art Gallery
