Contemporary Wearables 2007
, toured by Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery, recognises and promotes innovation in design and in use of materials in the creation of jewellery and wearable art. This biennial award has become an important event in Australia's artistic calendar, for emerging and established jewellery artists and lovers of their work. The 2007 exhibition explores current trends in Australian jewellery making and showcases 67 stunning pieces from sixty Australian and New Zealand contemporary jewellers.

Jewellery attracts a diverse array of makers: those that construct, those that deconstruct, and those that reconstruct. Some utilise modern technologies and processes, creating forms with multiple uses or using multi-media components; others simplify and reshape existing forms, sourcing reusable or raw materials. The diversity and skill on display in Contemporary Wearables 2007 are truly breathtaking.
