Usually, getting to see all of the fascinating collections of public art scattered around Wagga Wagga means a lot of walking or driving around. But now you can see all the city's sculptures, statues and tiled constructions brought together in one place in Around, an exhibition by local photographer Baha Mosa in the E3 art space.
Originally from Dubai, Baha Mosa has lived in Wagga Wagga for ten years, working as a photographer and graphic designer. In 2009, he was commissioned by Wagga Wagga City Council to document the city's extensive collection of public art, and the results celebrate all the works familiar to anyone who's ever strolled down Baylis Street or wandered around Wollundry Lagoon.
Many visitors will recognise statues they walk past every day, and even the brightly coloured tiled seats that line the footpaths of our town centre. Although they may have become part of daily routine for many people, residents of Wagga Wagga have truly taken these sculptures to heart: while taking these photographs, Baha Mosa often encountered passers-by who regaled him with tales of the works' creation and their place in our lives.
Around is supported by Wagga Wagga City Council and the Riverina Media Group.
