Operation Art 2018

Tuesday 13 – Sunday 25 November, 2018 | E3 art space

  • Ruby West, Ruby's Wonderful Watermelon, Neutral Bay Public School

Operation Art is an initiative of the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in collaboration with the Department of Education.

Annually, over 800 students across all of NSW enter their work in the Operation Art Exhibition. Students in years K- 10, including rural and remote schools and special education schools, have their art work showcased in a professionally curated exhibition.

Students receive wide spread recognition for their work with over 10,000 visitors viewing the exhibition at Sydney Olympic Park, and then thousands more viewing the touring exhibition which visits 5 regional galleries each year before the works are donated to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. The 50 art works on show here today, are those which will tour NSW in 2018.

The exhibition provides a real purpose for student’s artmaking – contributing to the wellbeing of sick children and their families by creating work which is uplifting and gives hope to those who spend much of their time at hospital.
