Life and the Kurrajong

The beginning and the end of life
seeds in a broken womb
hardened by time
and nature

some have travelled
helped by the seasons
sprouted and grown
as did the mother tree

the shade-giving kurrajong
soars to an Australian sky
robust bark cracking
in striated pattern

Jenny Manning’s pods
lie on the ground
bursting with life
or is it death?

if each of these seeds takes root
in the urban landscape
further pods, more seeds
a viral chaos could ensue.
