What is a zine?

A zine (pronounced ‘zeen’, like ‘magazine’) is an original, self-published, non-commercial book, usually produced by one person or a very small group of people.

Zines come in all shapes, sizes, topics and formats: from handwritten to cut-and-paste using drawn images, photographs, collage and computer-generated images and text.

A zine can be about any subject its creator decides, or it may contain a variety of subjects and writing styles. Zines can include personal essays, political discussions, fiction, do-it-yourself advice, articles about music or movies, comics, poetry, reviews – anything you can think of!

Come on your own or bring a group of like-minded friends and create your own zine in these workshops, with the support and expertise of these young, local creators!

All materials will be supplied. Light snack provided.
