The Jackdaw Film Series Returns to Wagga Wagga Art Gallery ! – and in celebration of our year of Environmental themed Exhibitions and Programming we are proud to present GreenScreen, supported  by ADFAS Riverina.

Once again, we’ll transform the Gallery into an amazing lounge-style ‘Cinémathèque’, screening the critically acclaimed documentary films ManufacturedLandscapes 2006 and Samsara 2011 – featuring massive Dolby digital surround sound for an authentic big screen experience, with full bar service and refreshments available.

We commence screenings with Manufactured Landscapes

Jennifer Baichwal and Edward Burtynsky are renowned collaborators in the world of documentary filmmaking. Baichwal, a Canadian filmmaker, and Burtynsky, a celebrated photographer, have worked together on several films that explore our relationship with the natural world and our impact on the environment.

Through the use of stunning visuals and thoughtful storytelling, Baichwal and Burtynsky's Manufactured Landscapes invites viewers to contemplate the consequences of our actions and to consider the ways in which we can work towards a more sustainable future.

And then stay up late for Samsara

Prepare yourself for an unparalleled sensory experience.  SAMSARA reunites director Ron Fricke and producer Mark Magidson, whose award-winning films BARAKA and CHRONOS were acclaimed for combining visual and musical artistry.

SAMSARA is a Sanskrit word that means “the ever turning wheel of life” and is the point of departure for the filmmakers as they search for the elusive current of interconnection that runs through our lives.

Filmed over a period of almost five years and in twenty-five countries, SAMSARA transports us to sacred grounds, disaster zones, industrial sites, and natural wonders.  By dispensing with dialogue and descriptive text, SAMSARA subverts our expectations of a traditional documentary, instead encouraging our own inner interpretations inspired by images and music that infuses the ancient with the modern.

We would like to thanks ADFAS Riverina for their support towards the 2023 Jackdaw Film Series Program.
