About
Look at Me: Notes from the curators unveils the behind the scenes processes of collection management and art curation at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery.
This exhibition is the result of a joint project between the Gallery and the University of Sydney’s postgraduate Museum and Heritage Studies program. The Gallery has over 3000 works of art in the collection - like many other cultural institutions not all of these works have complete digital records. Complete documentation is crucial in providing detailed records of ownership, history, context and interpretation.
Join three emerging curators they showcase their research offering a deep dive into three works from the Gallery’s collection. They attempt to uncover the mystery of the previous owners of ‘Kate and Bianca’, expose the controversy behind the acquisition of ‘The Blue Tie’, and discover the origins of ‘Untitled’, a previously unidentified work in the collection.
