Across the Winter School Holidays, Wagga Wagga Art Gallery presents Freeze Short Film Festival with workshops, film competitions and a short film screening afternoon for the region's youth.

The workshops will focus on animation, acting and performance, as well as fundamental skills sessions in editing your own videos. The workshops will be presented across a range of dates and facilitated by animation and motion designer Alice Peacock, as well as emerging local theatre company Freeroam Theatre.


Learn to Animate Workshop

Saturday 2 July, 1pm - 4pm

Learn the fundamentals of animation and explore the digital possibilities when creating your own short film, guided by local animator Alice Peacock.
To bring: Any small objects you would like to bring to life through animation or any preferred art supplies, some objects and art supplies are provided in the workshop. Also bring your own phone or tablet which you can install free apps on. If you do not have one the Gallery will have some available for use.
About Alice Peacock:
Alice Peacock is a Wagga Wagga based multimedia artist specialising in animation and motion design, with a passion for helping tell community stories. Alice’s background includes 8 years of experience working in creative fields across Australia, and her work includes short films, large-scale projection art, indie games, and advertisements. Her work as an artist has been exhibited around Australia and overseas.

Short Film Competition

The short film competition will open for entries from Saturday 2 July and close at 4pm on Wednesday 13 July.

All information will be given to participants at the first animation and performance workshops on Saturday 2 July. We encourage everyone to attend these workshops. Even if you have already started working on a film at home, this will be a great opportunity to seek professional feedback on your films before you submit into the film competition.
