Wagga Wagga based painter Kate Smith will be undertaking a residency in the E3 studio as she prepares for a major solo exhibition at Sutton Gallery in Melbourne slated for early 2025. The residency will provide much-needed studio space to experiment and play as she develops a body of work. Mentoring from Gallery staff will allow for conversation and curatorial feedback as Kate explores.

Kate works in both 3D sculpture and painting, exploring the tensions between form and abstraction with playful humor. Her work reflects her experiences growing up on a farm north of Wagga and her strong connection to the art world of Melbourne.
